Project Details
Space is a living organism with its users. Each individual exists in a small fragment of time. Things that define individuals and their movement become visible and invisible within time. The relations between things are blurry and often disconnected. The intersection between things is not apparent in the fourth dimension, time, unlike the third dimension. The ambiguous and invisible relation between time and moments is manipulated by being recorded in a virtual environment. Time will become clear and unambiguous in the third dimension for those who experience the artwork. The meaning will emerge with the physical paths created by the experiencers in the virtual environment. The individual who finds him/herself as producer while experiencing the artwork will create their own memory with the traces they leave behind.
The artwork uses virtual reality technology. The virtual experience space was developed with the Unreal Engine game engine and HTC Vive virtual reality headset. Users can move freely in the virtual environment and physical environment in all directions. The sensors positioned in the exhibition area detect the location of the users wearing the headset. Users can create colored paths in the virtual environment in accordance with their physical movements with the help of the location and motion data obtained from the headset. Paths created by users are reproduced in different layers and in different formats to create a virtual experience space. The virtual environment will be restarted for each new user and will allow users to shape the virtual environment with their own paths. The semi-transparent vertical layers positioned in the exhibition area is used to create a transition from physical space to virtual space.
bang. Prix 2019 determines the lines of an experimental effort. It deals with the logical form of the language as put forth by Wittgenstein combining it in a new setup. It moves away from normative rules as it follows the manifestation of its own reality. Each artist’s authentic language focuses on the reality as well as the universe they imagine. At this point, artists create an organic language in their own spheres and in their own software, while focusing on their own worlds and transforming the unknown into the known. The language is a metaphor in the exhibition.
